Actor Prakash Raj has directed several Tamil films, but his two directorial ventures in Sandalwood are both remakes. The Puttur-born actor’s last directorial venture was the 2010 film Naanu Nanna Kanasu, which was a remake of the Tamil hit Abhiyum Naanum. His upcoming film Oggarane, which stars Samyuktha Hornad, Sneha, Urvashi, Tejas and singer SP Balasubrahmanyam, is a remake of the Malayalam film Salt And Pepper. When quizzed about this trend, the actor-director-producer said that making remakes of other south Indian language films has never been a conscious decision. He is drawn by the script and for him, every film that he makes is an original because he adds his own touches to it. Prakash added that he is only interested in telling the story, regardless of it being told in another form before or not.
Oggarane will be made in Kannada, Tamil and Telugu, and Prakash will also star in the film. The actor began his acting career with Kannada serials like
Bisilu Kudure and
Guddada Bhootha. He has acted in films in several languages, including Hindi.
