Having spent 10 years on the small screen, Shruti Naidu is an easily recognised face across Karnataka. The actress and producer turns a year older today, and says that she is very excited about her birthday this year. “It has been a special year for me, since I made an entry into films; I have produced my first film, Premiere Padmini, starring
Jaggesh, under my banner, Shruti Naidu Chithra.
I’m excited to have finally made the leap,” she says, as she prepares to host a bash this evening at a star hotel.
So, what made Shruti, who is currently doing three serials, venture into the big screen? “I have been producing TV serials for 10 years, and people have always told me to try my hand at films. I was among the first to make Kannada soaps at a grand level. I was apprehensive, since films are a big gamble. But when the script of Premiere Padmini came to me, it struck a chord. My confidence was boosted when Jaggesh was also excited about the script. The audience likes content-based films, and that is what Premiere Padmini is,” says Shruti, adding that what makes her day extra special is that the lyrical video of Premier Padmini releases today.
