He wrote about this on his Twitter account and said, “A country where 50% of the employment is dependent on Agriculture. Ranking 1st in the world with highest NetCroppedArea, World's largest producer of Fresh Fruits, 2nd largest producer of Dry Fruits, 5th largest producer of Cash Crops, Poultry Meat, Coffee, Cotton, the largest exporter of Rice, Sugar, Wheat. On top of all these, we also have a day to day requirement to Feed our own population of around 137 crore!”
He added, “Inspite of such great demand, why do our farmers still suffer?? Some kill themselves some quit farming and most desert their villages & move to the cities !!!! Has the Administrative system failed to meet the Supply Chain Demand ??? 35% of Vegetables/Fruits gets wasted on a daily basis because it won't reach the consumers. Why hasn't the government stepped in for Cold Storage, by defining proper logistics?”
“Farmers suffer most with the inconsistency in the price paid for their produce, the rates of which fluctuate on a daily basis. The selling price at Markets for one particular crop which was there on day 1 during Seeding won't be the same as the day when their #Yield arrives...We are in a generation where Married couples plan the future of their children even before they are born. But the Farmers are so helpless and won't even be able to plan 6 months in advance for their produce. Their future is so unstable such is the unfortunate situation in the present Agriculture,” he further wrote on his Twitter page.
Pushkara Mallikarjunaiah has started to explore the scope of farming and is also making some contributions in for the progress of farmers. He has also begun researching and learning how to farm by visiting nearly 100 farmers including successful, unsuccessful and revolutionary ones. He is also building a team to make it successful.
