'RIP' Girish Karnad: Sandalwood stars mourns the loss of the legendary actor

Girish Karnad, who was suffering from the illness from the past couple of years, passed away early on Monday, June 10.
Girish Karnad’s contribution to the Kannada film industry is immense. He has acted in many languages including Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. The movie 'Samskara', which starred Karnad in the 70s, won the National Award. Also, the Kannada movie raised a new wave in Sandalwood.Karnad also directed many movies like 'Ondanondu Kalladali', 'Kadu', ' Kannuru Hagdatati' and also directed Hindi movies like 'Utsav' and 'Cheluve'.
Girish Karnad introduced great talents like Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri, Girish Kasaravalli and others through a film institute. Karnad also introduced unique talents such as Shankar Nag and Vishnuvardhan in Kannada. He also acted in many Kannada movies.
