Glamour, glitz and postcard visuals are usually the stuff music videos are made of. So, once in a while, when there is a song that conveys a socially-relevant message, you sit up and take note. “That’s what drew me to support and back
Sahana, a music video about a subject that has been plaguing society for a while now and has, thus, become a matter of huge concern for us all.
It deals with the sexual abuse of girls, more specifically rape, and how, in some cases, these incidents are prevented from coming to light,” says Rishab.
Directed by Santhosh Balkur, Sahana is inspired by real incidents. “In one particular incident last year, the rape and subsequent death of the girl was buried and attributed to a snake bite. Sahana has sought inspiration from this episode and explores the subject of sexual abuse through the eyes of a snake. It plays a mute spectator to the happenings in the story,” says the director-actor. Rishab adds that art has the responsibility of educating and bringing about change in the mindset of people, and he hopes to see Sahana doing just that.
