Sakkare inspired by O Henry

Sakkare inspired by O Henry
While O Henry’s The Last Leaf might have been an inspiration for several films, this is the first time a Kannada film has been inspired by this short story. Though the Kannada film version, Sakkare, may not be an exact adaptation of the story, its message is the same — there is hope after every loss. Sakkare also sees Sandalwood actor Ganesh doing what he does best — playing the lover boy.

The film, directed by Abhaya Simha, has Ganesh romancing Deepa Sannidhi for the first time. Abhaya explains why people should watch Sakkare:
1) The screenplay might have taken a long time to complete, but it is the highlight of the film. It has two dimensions — how we see the world and how it sees us. Sakkare also reveals the hero and heroine’s point of view simultaneously.
2) Though this is the first time that Ganesh and Deepa are acting opposite each other, they have crackling onscreen chemistry.
3) The story spans three different time zones, thus giving audiences three different love stories.
4) Anant Nag and Vinaya Prasad are acting together in a film after a long time. They play old lovers and their characterization will definitely appeal to audiences.
5) Ganesh and Anant Nag, who have a natural flair for comedy, have brought in some humorous elements.
6) The songs of the film have been shot in some relatively unknown spots in Hassan and in places in north Karnataka that are bound to become popular after the film’s release.
7) There are two visually different fight sequences in the film. One was shot at the Malpe beach harbour. The scene involves Ganesh performing some stunts on top of the boats. The second fight sequence takes place on the set of a mythological TV serial.
8) V Harikrishna’s music has already become a chartbuster.
