A big-screen artiste who took to snatching chains in a desperate bid to chase his dream as a Kannada hero has landed in the police dragnet. Prithvi, from Kesare Extension in Mysuru, was arrested four days ago while waiting for a bus at D Salhundi village in Mysore taluk. He made his foray into the industry through a Kannada film in which he plays the lead.
Family members who learnt about the arrest landed at the deputy commissioner's office, demanding to know his whereabouts. Prithvi's mother tried to immolate herself, seeking his release. Police said Prithvi was involved in two chain-snatching incidents in Mandya and one in K R Nagar. Police recovered gold chains worth Rs 1.05 lakh from him. Prithvi was produced before the magistrate, who remanded him to judicial custody.
