Sandalwood's first wives club

... lives it up in the city
Sandalwood's first wives club
Their husbands may be pitted against each other in the numbers game and race for box-office collections, but the first ladies of Sandalwood don't let any of this affect them. These ladies love to have a good time, in the confines of their homes, with periodic get-togethers and parties. They have even been planning short trips to ensure their camaraderie stays intact.

'Most of us know each other professionally, thanks to our husbands, so we've met at social gatherings. But these parties, where it is mostly us girls meeting when our husbands are busy with their own schedules, have turned out to be good spaces for us to socialize and catch up on each others' lives,' says actress-homemaker Priyanka Upendra, who recently played host to a Holi bash, which saw Kavitha Lankesh, Shilpa Ganesh, Vijaylakshmi, Archana Ramesh Aravind and Rekha Jagadish, among others, drop by.
Shilpa, whose new home has become a party hotspot for these ladies, says, 'When we moved to our new home, we decided that it is high time we socialize and get to know people from the industry. Going out is not always a very good idea, because we have people looking at us and judging what we do. At our homes, we can be ourselves without any inhibitions, which is one of the reasons we try to have these get-togethers in private.'
Priyanka agrees that privacy is a big problem, which is a reason for the ladies to choose their homes for parties. 'We've had many get-togethers. Be it at Pallavi Gurukiran's, Ashwini Puneeth's, Shilpa's place or my home. Another reason that we get along is because we have a lot of common things to talk about, since our husbands are in the same industry and we have similar lives,' says Priyanka.
The group also sees Spandana Vijay Raghavendra, Vidya Sriimurali, Malavika Avinash, Pallavi Gurukiran and Ragini Prajwal, to even some actresses that include Aindrita Ray and Radhika Pandit (who are also rumoured girlfriends of leading actors), as well as youngsters like Amulya and Nabha Natesh making regular appearances. These girls, like Cyndi Lauper sang, just want to have fun. And why not!
