For Shriya Dinakar, her debut directorial Billion Dollar Baby is more than just a first film release she’s seeing through. This film is her dream, through which she wants to educate people about how important it is to be a good citizen. The young achiever — who’s an astronaut, an accomplished dancer, and is now studying medicine to pursue space medicine — shares reasons why one must watch her debut movie.
1. This film is an effort to tell parents that it is important for them to be mentors and friends. I’ve managed to achieve my dreams because of my parents. I’ve also seen friends whose parents only have expectations or just give them material benefits, without understanding them.
2. Suresh Heblikar plays my teacher and mentor in the film. Since he’s also an environmentalist, we’ve tackled the issue of conservation in the film and hope to put across that message as well.
3. The cast includes Shivadhwaj, Sangeetha, Bank Janardhan and Suresh Heblikar, who are all established names. They were a great support.
4. There's a Russian ballet number in the film, which is a first, if I am not mistaken, in a Kannada film. There is also another song that showcases seven national dances of India. We’ve also paid a tribute to Kannada mata through this film with the song Hachevu Kannadada Deepa.
