It was exactly four years ago that Simple
Suni's 2016 film 'Operation Alamelamma' made its way into cinema halls. Starring
Rishi,
Shraddha Srinath, Rajesh Nataranga, and Aruna Balaraj in the lead, the comedy-crime thriller was Suni's very first attempt at the genre and his fifth film in general. The film proved to be a huge commercial success at the time of its release and still grew in popularity over the years for its atypical nature and screenplay.
So, in the spirit of its fourth anniversary, director Suni and lead actor Rishi took to social media earlier today to acknowledge the occasion and also thank the audience for the love and support they received over the years. "4 years of #OperationAlamelamma, ಧನ್ಯವಾದಗಳು," wrote Rishi in his tweet while Suni too shared the poster of the film and marked the anniversary.
The film is particularly special for Rishi as he made his official debut as a lead actor and went on to become one of the most sought-after faces in the business as a result of its success. Shraddha Srinath, on the other hand, had made her grand debut about a year ago with
Pawan Kumar's 'U Turn' and followed that up with a string of interesting films in both Kannada and other languages - 'Vikram Vedha' and 'Urvi' to name a few. Her popularity as the 'U Turn' actor lent a lot of stock to 'Operation Alamelamma' and the fact that she featured in a completely different avatar too helped in attracting the audience.
For director Suni, the film proved to be yet another new exercise as he continued his previous pattern of experimenting with a genre. Having achieved tremendous success with his debut film 'Simpallagi Ondu Love Story', Suni went on to direct 'Bahuparaak' with
Srinagar Kitty and also 'Simpallag Innondh Love Story', starring Praveen Tej and
Meghana Gaonkar.
