His Okka Kshanam co-star
Seerat Kapoor calls Bengaluru his hometown, and for
Allu Sirish it was like this film was coming a full circle when he squeezed in a quick trip to the city before the release. The actor had shared the details of this V I Anand-directed sci-fi romantic thriller around 14 months ago to BT when he visited the city for the success meet of his previous release.
“We even shot for three weeks in Bengaluru for Okka Kshanam at a plush apartment complex,” says Sirish.
The actor believes that this film is important to him. “I believe what the Bhagavad Gita says — put in your effort, don’t worry about the result. Having said that, this film is important for my career as my previous film, Srirastu Shubamastu, was my first success,” says Sirish.
He adds, “When I first spoke about this subject (a romantic thriller tracing parallel lives), I was excited. I am just as excited now. That is the magic of a great story — it retains the same energy for the whole 14 months. I hope what we’ve believed in translates on screen.”
Sirish, who plans to come to Bengaluru to ring in the 2018, says, “I’ve already told my friends that if the film does well, I’m popping open a champagne bottle in Bengaluru to celebrate.” He adds, “Bengaluru is a crucial market for any film as it is the right melting pot of cultures. If a film wins the audience here, it can be a good measure for its success. So, I take the Bengaluru audience seriously.”
The film co-stars
Surbhi, Seerat and Srinivas Avasarala. “My character Jeeva is a guy-next-door. He doesn’t have the power to beat up a dozen guys. But what stands out is his belief that even if destiny is pre-written, one has the power to fight and change it with his or her actions. That is what appealed to me about the character,” says Sirish.
