Producer SV Narayan is only on his second film in Sandalwood, with today’s Ranganayaki Vol 1: Virginity. But as with his debut project, ATM, he maintains that the
Dayal Padmanabhan directorial takes the vision he has for his banner Yesvee Entertainment forward, as far as presenting a strong message to society goes.
Ranganayaki..., which has
Aditi Prabhudeva in the lead, along with
MG Srinivas and
Trivikram, is based on a novel by the director, which explores an incident of rape of the protagonist and the aftermath of the violence unleashed on her.
“I have been following Dayal’s work for a while and have been intrigued by his choice of subjects and portrayal of female characters. When we decided to collaborate, I had a brief narration of salient points from the novel and I was drawn to the message it has. The fact that the film has made it to the Indian Panorama at the International Film Festival of India boosts our confidence multi-fold,” says Narayan, adding that the team is targetting a 70-80 centre release across Karnataka.
