Tap your feet to nomadic tunes
April 8 marks the International Romani Gypsy Day 2015. To celebrate the day, a storyteller, six dancers and a drummer will take you on an epic journey of music and dance. Zor means strength in Romani. It is the tenacity of the Gypsy spirit. Zor is the thousand-year-old journey from the deserts of north-western India, to the streets of Egypt, through the old empires of Turkey and the icy plains Russia, to the sea caves of southern Spain.

Zor: Dancing the Gypsy Trail is the story of a transcontinental journey told through the music and dance of an oppressed yet gifted people, with a serving of history, a smattering of poetry and a whole lot of Gypsy spirit!
The artists include Elena Gil Alvarez, Divya Chandran, Debapriya Das, Sourima Das, Arun Shiva Ganesh, Indu Manohar, Sunanda Pati, Kavya Viswanathan and Marta Pelaz. The event will be staged on April 8 (8 pm) at Jagriti Theatre, Whitefield.
