Story: The families of Moideen and Kanchanamala were quite close despite the religious differences until they fall in love. The orthodox mentality raises its head and near and dear ones oppose their union, which in turn strengthens their bond to survive for decades
Review: At heart, Ennu Ninte Moideen is a tender tale of romance, the tragic and inspiring tale of Kanchanamala and Moideen. The audience know where the story is heading just as the film unfolds its plot. We see the couple living, fighting society and retaining their patience and waiting. Despite the predictability, R S Vimal’s debut movie keeps you glued to your seat as its protagonists belittle the distances between them and that’s what makes it a winner.
It’s the tale of two young, bold lovers – the Hindu girl Kanchanamala and Muslim boy, Moideen. While Moideen is an embodiment of impish freedom, Kanchana is a no-nonsense, strong-willed woman in her era. The societal and religious barriers stifle them and their folks try their best to separate them, but with remarkable strength and truthfulness, the relationship endures. The story is also a wrenching tale of blind arrogance and its consequences.

Prithviraj and Parvathy slip into their roles with élan and the director succeeds in intelligently linking the plot with established details of the story, giving it a sound momentum. One can’t ignore the contribution of Gopi Sunder’s background score and Jomon’s superbly composed frames, the research work by the art direction team and well-placed songs that have added to the film’s narrative.
Ennu Ninte Moideen is a tad too lengthy and certain sequences are overtly dramatic. Nevertheless, which love story isn’t?
