Story: An unemployed engineering graduate, Shanu resorts decides to aide a hawala transaction for the mob to make quick cash to treat his sick mother. But new to the mob culture, Shanu is betrayed by the mob. He has to run to save his life.


Review: Written, directed and edited by Peter Sajan, Oru Kadath Naadan Kadha is a mob story with little mob and more of a chase. The story is seasoned with blasè comedy and very little violence.

Shanu, an unemployed engineering graduate, is forced to take up a hawala transaction for quick cash for his mother's treatment. But the mob has other plans for him. Tangled in a web of deceit, Shanu has to run for his life.

Oru Kadath Naadan Kadha has a mediocre cast to boast of. And for that reason alone the other departments should rise to the occasion. Oru Kadath Naadan Kadha has an mediocre story so to speak. It is more of the mob dynamics and less of the emotions. The movie takes you through how a mob functions, the specifics, but doesn't exactly allow you to enter into the heart of it. Shaheen Siddique plays Shanu, the quintessential unemployed engineering graduate, who is ambitious, yet unlucky in his pursuit to prosperity. There is little for him to emote, which he doesn't seem to nail anyway, but a lot of running around is expected of him, which he manages to do well. The other artists, including Pradeep Rawat and Salim Kumar, all of whom have their niche spaces in the movie, have underperformed.

Joseph C Mathew cranks the camera for the Oru Kadath Naadan Kadha. His camera lenses give us some exquisite visuals, keeping the thrill on. Even the background music and songs by Alphonse Joseph keep the pace and the thrill of the narrative. For a debutante Peter Sajan gives hope because he manages to keep the audience remotely entertained for the 2 hours of run time, inspite of a lack of any freshness from the story.

Oru Kadathu Naadan Kadha is a run-of-the-mill cat-and mouse comedy with a side of a mob story. If you happen to have a craving for some simple mindless laughs this might be your cup of tea.
