She Taxi

Story: Devayani, a taxi driver, takes three women on a trip to a Tibetan colony in Coorg. On the way she meets Joe Joseph, a man from her past. Their paths and goals converge, while unanswered questions from the past linger.


Review: Saji Surendran flicks usually pack a dose of humour using facetious storylines. His latest outing ‘She Taxi’ is several notches below a rousing entertainer. It visibly aspires to be more than just an average comic flick with an element of thrill. The movie leaves you content, but in parts. Taxi driver Devayani (Kavya Madhavan) is street-smart to deal with the challenges of her profession. On one of her trips – with three lady researchers to Coorg – she runs into Joe Joseph (Anoop Menon), a man from her past. He is on the run to escape a huge debt. Notwithstanding the duo’s differences, they end up traveling together and the mystery around their personal lives unravels during the trip.

After the first few minutes, the movie brings back memories of the super hit film Yodha as it showcases the lives of Buddhist monks and discusses their issues. The story shifts to a Malayali setting soon after. The portions focusing on the pursuit of a costly painting hold some interest. Kavya is impressive in her taxi driver avatar and there is a certain freshness about her character.

Humour in the movie mostly falls flat despite the presence Suraj Venjaramoodu, Prem Kumar, Tini Tom and Noby. It’s Noby who manages to please the audience through his expressions.
