The Gambinos

Story: The movie revolves around a mother and her four sons, who are the most wanted drug peddlers in the city.

Review: Using a small intro scene, the filmmaker directly conveys what the title means. The Gambino is a family based in United States that controls organised crime activities based in New York city. The film marks actress Radhika Sarathkumar’s next in Malayalam after Ramaleela, but this time her selection has gone wrong as the film does not offer much to the audience.

It narrates the life of four brothers who are drug peddlers and their mother played by actress Radhika. She and her boys live in their own mafia world. The mother saves her sons, who are drug addicts, even though they commit brutal crimes.

The film is a cat and mouse race between the brothers and the cops. Actors Vishnu Vinay, Sreejith Ravi, Sampath Raj, Sinoj Varghese and Mustafa play important roles in the movie, which also has an ensemble of new faces. Actor Sinoj Varghese appears as the stylish crime branch officer who looks dashing in his white shirt and blue jeans.

An array of events transpire after Vishnu Vinay’s character Mustafa Ahammed enters the lives of his four drug peddler uncles. The role, however, doesn't have enough dialogues. What’s lacking though is a well-thought-out script. The director could have included a romantic tale for role Mustafa as the film also depicts his love interest Salma.

The uncertainty in the mind of the filmmaker shows in the film as well in terms of how certain characters and scenes are crafted.The film’s thread being a crime, the director could have induced eventful plots to keep it riveting. Instead we get a movie with an attractive name that has nothing noteworthy to offer for its entire duration.
