'Patriot’ box office collection day 8: Mohanlal and Mammootty starrer spy action thriller sees low numbers; collects Rs 76 lakh on Friday

Two of Malayalam cinema's legends Mohanlal and Mammootty reunited in the spy action thriller ‘Patriot’ directed by Mahesh Narayanan. Released with high anticipation, the film opened well at the box office; however, it also received mixed reviews from the audience. Latest trade reports suggest the movie collected only Rs 76 lakh on Friday.Due to it’s hype, the film collected over Rs 10 crore on opening, according to Sacnilk. Later, on the second day, the film minted Rs 6.15 crore and Rs 5.50 crore on Saturday.As the film progressed into the weekdays, the numbers gradually decreased. On Monday, it collected Rs 1.70 crore. Similarly, the film made Rs 1.50 crore, Rs 1.20 crore and Rs 93 lakh, wrapping up the first week. The first week’s collection comes to Rs 26.98 crore.Speaking of the film’s second week, on Friday (Day 8), the film made Rs 76 lakh across 996 shows. This brings the total India gross collections to Rs 32.18 crore and the total India net to Rs 27.74 crore as of now.Speaking about the film, the story centers on a retired JAG officer, played by Mammootty, who is wrongly framed for espionage and goes on a covert mission to clear his name and protect the nation.
