Meera Jasmine is back as a stylish cop

Meera Jasmine is back as a stylish cop
It’s been some time since actress Meera Jasmine did a Mollywood film. The actress was part of off-beat flicks such as Ithinumappuram last year but has largely stayed away from the limelight post her marriage in 2014.
Meera has now signed up for editor-turned-director Don Max’s upcoming crime drama in which she will be seen as cop.
The actress though insists that it’s not her comeback movie.

“A lot of people might consider this a comeback, but for me the last few months were just a sabbatical of sorts. I have been preparing for an international project that I am not at liberty to talk about right now. However, I was constantly in touch with the Malayalam film industry and have been listening to a lot of scripts. I wanted to do something nice and refreshing, and Don’s movie had everything I was searching for,” she says.
So what was it about the movie that appealed to her? “I haven’t played an investigative police officer in my career yet. Also my look will be different from the rustic avatar the audience is used to. I play a modern and stylish cop in the movie,” explains Meera, who moved to Dubai post her marriage. Her last few movies including Onnum Mindathe and Lisammayude Veedu had her taking up roles on par with the hero. Ask her if the break was because she found it difficult to find such roles in Mollywood and she says, “By God’s grace, I was lucky to be part of several women-centric movies in my career. Now I am at a point where I can be more selective about my roles compared to the previous years. Earlier, acting was a full- time job but now, I can take my time and do only those movies which appeal to me.”
About Don’s film, which also has Anoop Menon, Murali Gopy and Anumol, she tells us, “It’s not a typical male or female dominated movie. All the characters are of equal importance. I am eagerly looking forward to joining the team in May.”
