ETimes verdict
The cast also include Dayyana Hameed, Kalabhavan Shajohn, and Tara Joseph and our ETimes review offers a more critical take on the film.
It states: "Amoz Alexander, directed by Ajay Shaji and written by Ajay Shaji and Prasanth Viswanathan, claims to tell the story of a woman’s redemption from a traumatic past, but the film struggles mainly because of its weak direction and writing. The film often drifts without purpose and emotional scenes fell flat. Mary’s journey of “finding herself”, played by Tara Amala Joseph never feels fully developed."
Our review further says, "Aju Varghese remains underutilised, Dayyana Hameed barely gets material to work with, and Kalabhavan Shajon looks stranded in poorly written scenes. What should have been a powerful story of survival becomes shallow. The choice to name the film after the rapist, played by Jaffar Idukki and some of the narrative decisions, make it seem as though the film is glorifying him more than the survivor."
Despite the criticisms, the film's OTT debut may give it a second chance with viewers who prefer slow-burn thrillers.
