While the female lyricists and composers were almost non-existent in Mollywood in the past, their numbers seem to be on the rise, of late. In the upcoming trilingual film
Cleopatra directed by Rajan Sankaradi, Dr Omanakkutty’s disciple Sangeetha Varma will debut as a music director and she will also croon a song, which was apparently reserved for K S Chithra, who couldn’t take up the assignment.
The singers Sangeetha roped in for
Cleopatra include K J Yesudas, Anuradha Sriram,
Madhu Balakrishnan, S P Balasubhramaniam, Manjari, Shwetha and Sayonara. The composer has a post graduate degree in music from Trivandrum Women’s College and has composed for telefilms and albums in the past.
