After Nirnayakam in which he played an NDA cadet,
Asif Ali gears up to don the role of a cop in an upcoming action-comedy, titled Inspector Dawood Ibrahim aka IDI. The film is the debut directorial of Bangalore Days fame actor Sajid Yahiya and Arouz Irfan. The duo has also penned the script and dialogues of the movie.
Sajid says, “It is a stylish movie about a police officer who is ill-equipped for the job.
To begin with, even his name, which is similar to that of the notorious don, makes him a misfit to take up the job of a cop. He is shown as someone who doesn’t have the capabilities, but dreams of becoming a police officer.”
About casting Asif as the lead, Sajid explains, “The film’s name can be abbreviated to IDI (punch in Malayalam). We wanted someone who has not over explored the sphere of action in our industry, to breathe in some freshness into the character.” Saiju Kurup, Balu Varghese and Bineesh Kodiyeri will play the other key characters in the film, which will start rolling in September.
The movie has Mangaluru and Kasaragod as two of its main locations. Rahul Raj scores its music.
