How Malayalam Cinema Quietly Dominated Indian Cinema in 2025
Plot: A serial killer case with moral dilemmas
'Dheeram' follows police officer Stalin Joseph who takes charge of a disturbing murder case in a nightclub parking lot. More crimes surface as the investigation moves forward and this reveals a pattern that suggests a serial killer is on the loose. Stalin uncovers unsettling backstories tied to the victims and pulls him deeper into the case.
Mixed critical reception
ETimes reviewed the film and noted, “The premise is interesting on paper, but the execution struggles to create emotional engagement.
The film does not build a strong connection between its characters and the audience, which makes the extensive gore and violence feel unnecessary rather than impactful. Multiple backstories, though intended to deepen the narrative, end up creating lag and repetition. As a result, the emotional intensity the film aims for never fully materialises.”
The review also praised the performances, “Indrajith Sukumaran delivers his usual dependable performance. Renji Panicker, Reba Monica John, Aju Varghese, Nishanth Sagar, and Divya Pillai handle their roles well, but the writing gives them limited space to leave a lasting impression.”
Despite criticisms the film has maintained a steady interest among thriller lovers and also fans were excited to see Indrajith Sukumaran leading a film in a cop role after a long gap.
