‘Drishyam 3’ star Asha Sharath reveals her unique love story: 'We fell in love without meeting'

The actress, who became a household name for her powerhouse performance as IG Geetha Prabhakar, recently shared her "unique and old-school" love story during an interview. Asha revealed that she and her husband, Sharath, fell deeply in love through a year-long exchange of letters without ever meeting in person; the bond was facilitated by her brother and their families.In a recent interview with Dhanya Varma, Asha Sharath shared details about her personal life. The actress revealed that her husband first expressed his feelings to her brother. She also shared that they met in person only a few days before their wedding. Asha spoke about the strong bond she shares with her brothers. She revealed how her brother played a key role in her marriage.Asha said, “I had a very good bond with my brothers. My brother would often ask me whether I would marry someone I found or someone my father found. My answer was always that I would marry the person my brother chose. And that is exactly what happened. The person he found was Sharath.”She also recalled how her brother first met her husband: “My brother Venu first met Sharath at a restaurant in the Gulf. They started talking as Malayalis, and that acquaintance grew into a friendship. It was with my brother that Sharath first saw one of my dance performances. He was just 24 years old then. He called his mother and said that he had seen a girl and wanted to marry her. At that time, his mother took it as just a thought of a young man.” The actress explained how the relationship moved forward. Her husband later conveyed his interest to her brother.The actress said, “Later, he expressed his wish to marry me to my brother. Sharath is a very disciplined person, and my brother liked him as well. That is how things moved towards a marriage proposal. Sharath did not come to see me first. Instead, his parents came home and stayed for three or four days. I met Sharath in person only a few days before the wedding.”They built a strong emotional connection even before meeting in person. She said, “We fell deeply in love without even meeting each other for a year. We used to write letters regularly. It was a very romantic phase. Even now, we are very romantic. From then until now, there hasn’t been a single day when I haven’t spoken to Sharath.”On the work front, Asha Sharath will reprise her role as IG Geetha Prabhakar in the upcoming Mohanlal starrer 'Drishyam 3' set to release on May 21.
