Gayathri Arun makes her Mollywood debut
TV actress Gayathri Arun has a massive fan following among the small screen audience, with her soap opera Parasparam nearing its 900th episode. Her character Deepthi IPS is a household name now, and the actress will soon be foraying into Mollywood with the upcoming movie Sarvopari Palakkaran. Interestingly, she will be seen as a police officer in the film as well.
So what prompted her to make her silver screen debut? She says, 'I have been getting offers from the film industry throughout my TV career but was unable to commit, owing to scheduling conflicts between the movies and my serial.

I was offered the central character in most of the films. This meant that I had to be on the sets for at least 30 days,' she says. 'However, this film required me to be on the sets only for a few days. The team was also willing to work around my schedule.'
The film, directed by Venugopan, already has Anoop Menon, Aparna Balamurali and Anu Sithara as part of the cast. Gayathri will play the role of an assistant sub inspector named Chandra Shivakumar.
The actress though says that she wants to shed the image of a cop ' be it in films or on the small screen. 'A lot of people refer to me as Deepthi IPS in real life too! They have accepted that character whole-heartedly and many have even asked me to play such characters if and when I decide to do films. But frankly I am not keen on continuing with the cop act,' she says.
So does she have a particular role in mind? 'I was fortunate to get opportunities in TV as well as films. The roles came to me; I didn't chase them. I have never been much of a planner actually,' Gayathri concludes.
