Helmed by Geetu Mohandas, 'Moothon' had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival yesterday. Geetu, along with producer Anurag Kashyap and actors Nivin Pauly, Rosshan Matthew, Sobhita Dhulipala and Sanjana Dipu attended the event. Elated about the response the film fetched, Geetu penned an emotional note wishing that her father was alive to watch his daughter's movie.

Geetu's father passed away back in 2015.
Taking to her social media handle Geetu wrote, "20 years back my dad brought me to Canada in hopes and anticipation for a better tomorrow for his daughter with big dreams. I wish he was alive to watch my world premiere of #Moothon last night. It was magical, emotional and powerful for all of us. Thank You, Universe!"

Geetu entered showbiz as an actor and went on to pursue a career in filmmaking with 'Kelkkunnundo' (2009), a short film. Later, she directed a full length feature film 'Liar's Dice'. The movie was India's Official Entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 87th Academy Awards.
'Moothon' is Geetu's first Malayalam film starring Nivin Pauly. The movie tells the story of two siblings, who leave home. The movie received a lot of praise at TIFF, during its premiere.
