Director V K Prakash recently introduced to M-Town the helicam for the shoot of his film, Trivandrum Lodge. And he swears that it has, in no way, strained the film's budget. "It's all about balancing the economics of cinema budgeting, which, by now, I believe I'm quite good at handling. Trivandrum Lodge was shot in 25 days flat; plus, since I employ a digital system of shooting and use two cameras simultaneously, it helps cut down on the cost to a good extent.
So bringing in the helicam didn't quite blow the film's budget out of limits," clarifies the director.
Ask him about the pressure of living up to 'Beautiful' expectations in Trivandrum Lodge and VKP, as he is popularly called in the industry, is quick to retort. "There wasn't too much pressure as such; in any case, had Beautiful been a flop, even then as a filmmaker, I would always have this urge to make every film better than the previous," he says.
