It looks like Advaith Jayasurya is a chip off the old block! The nine-year old is making all the right choices to follow his dad Jayasurya’s path to movies, maybe not as an actor, but a director. His latest venture was editing a promo song for Jayasurya’s
Su… Su… Sudhi Vathmeekam. “It’s not my first rodeo,” Advaith says, “I had shot and edited a short film last year titled
Diary of Doom, which had my neighbour Mihir Madhav and I as actors.
It’s about a character who notes his dreams in his journal and those events actually happen the next day.”
Ask him if he aspires to be a director and Advaith says, “Yeah, you can say that. I would like to be part of movie industry.” On learning editing and cutting the promo song, he says, “I learnt the basics from film editor Zian Srikanth. I saw the visuals of
Sudhi Vathmeekam... and asked my father if I could edit it.” He tells us that
Jayasurya gave him the green light but told him he would only be showing it to director
Ranjith Sankar if he liked the end product.
The actor stayed true to his words. “My father didn’t like the first cut so I re-edited the footage and showed that to him. He said that was nice and that’s how Ranjith uncle got to know,” Advaith gushes.
The movie will also see him in a minor role along with Ranjith’s daughter Tara.
