Jayaram has a future as a singer : says music composer and singer M Jayachandran

Mohanlal, Indrajith, Prithviraj, Dulquer and Dileep have lent their voices to songs in their films. Now, joining the league is actor Jayaram, who will be crooning a melody in Joshiy’s Salaam Kashmir. The Suresh Gopi-Jayaram starrer will see the actor singing a duet with singer Shweta Mohan.
Its music composer M Jayachandran says the song was not composed with Jayaram in mind. “It was Jayaram himself who requested me whether he can try his hand at singing on hearing the song,” says Jayachandran.
The song is apparently a melodious romantic number, which also depicts familial bonding. “To our surprise, Jayaram perfected it in less than two hours. He sang it with the feel of a singer, too. I feel he has a good future as a singer,” he added.
Salaam Kashmir has one more song, which is a solo sung by Jayachandran himself. The film, which is a family drama set against a military backdrop, will see Jayaram playing someone who takes on the role of a homemaker. The actor has earlier sung a comic/fast number in the film Kathanayakan. But this will his first serious take at playback singing.
