She tiptoed into the film industry more than a decade ago through a film produced by Mani Ratnam. Kaniha, who was a student then, played a village belle opposite Prasanna in the movie titled Five Star and directed by Susi Ganesan. Many years, industries and milestones later, the actress will appear again in a Mani Ratnam project soon. She will play a cameo in the director’s upcoming film, which has Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menen in the lead.“I’ve had the privilege of being introduced by Madras Talkies (director Mani Ratnam’s production house) in 2003. After 11 long years, I finally got to be part of his directorial project by doing a cameo appearance for his upcoming film. I feel elated and wish the team the best,” the actress wrote on her online page. Interestingly, it’s through Mani Ratnam’s Five Star that she also debuted as a playback singer. The actress has done a handful of critically acclaimed Tamil films including Autograph, and has also lent her voice to leading actresses in Kollywood films.
