Kunchacko Boban as a cop for the first time
It's the season of debut police roles for most of Mollywood's established actors.
After Nivin Pauly in his latest, Manju Warrier in Vettah and Asif Ali in Ithu Thaanda Police, Kunchacko Boban will put on the khaki and boots for the first time in his 19-year-old career, in Rosshan Andrrews' School Bus.
The film, based on real-life incidents, is being scripted by Bobby-Sanjay duo.

'The story is told from the point of view of children and through them, we explore the adult world,' says Sanjay. 'And the law forms an important element in that world. That's where Kunchacko Boban's character as sub-inspector K R Gopakumar comes in.'
For Kunchacko, the role was exactly what he was looking for at this point in his career. 'Everyone's been telling me for a while that it's time I did a cop role. I believe I have come of age now to play such a character ' mentally and physically. Also, I consider a Bobby-Sanjay, Rosshan Andrrews movie, an apt choice.'
Incidentally, Bobby-Sanjay duo's scripts have always had strong cop characters. These include Sreenivasan and Anoop Menon in Traffic, Prithviraj and Jayasurya in Mumbai Police, Kalabhavan Mani in Ayaalum Njanum Thammil and Shammi Thilakan in Ente Veedum Appuvinteyum.
These cop characters have also inspired Kunchacko to take up the role. 'You can be assured that a cop in their movie won't stray too far from reality,' Kunchacko says. 'The movie also showcases his journey from a common man to a committed police officer. The ensuing investigations and his life are interlinked.'
