'Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra': Dulquer Salmaan talks about film's budget; says, 'No penny was wasted'
Mollywood's newest blockbuster, 'Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra', is receiving rave reviews and is having a memorable box office run. The superhero fantasy, starring Kalyani Priyadarshan, was made on a modest budget compared to modern-day superhero films; the movie is one of the industry's biggest hits of the year.
According to a report by 123Telugu, during the success meet of the film in Hyderabad last night. Actor Dulquer Salmaan, who backed the film, shed light on the film's budget, which has been a talking point ever since 'Lokah' was announced. It is rumored that the film was made on a budget of Rs. 40. Addressing the matter, Dulquer clarified, "As many have said, this is not a small-budget film. For us, it's a huge budget, the same we spent on movies such as King of Kotha and Kurup." By making comparisons with his previous large-scale productions, Dulquer explained that the investment in 'Lokah' was significant by industry standards.
The 'Kalki 2898 AD' actor also mentioned that no expense was wasted. "We haven't wasted even a single penny; everything you see on screen is where the money went," he said.
The event was graced by lead actress Kalyani Priyadarshan, hero Naslen, director Dominic Arun, and producer-actor Dulquer Salmaan, whose production house backed the ambitious project.
'Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra' stars Kalyani Priyadarshan as Chandra, a young woman who discovers supernatural powers while dealing with personal challenges. When evil forces arise, Chandra begins to accept her fate and powers, and embraces her new role to combat them.
The film was released on August 28, 2025.
