Mollywood has been luring actresses from other industries for quite a while. Latest to join the list of aspirants is, Madhhurima, who has signed up for Sojan Joses directorial debut, Black Coffee. Sojan and I are good friends and when he offered me this film, I couldnt help but say yes. This will be special; its his debut as well as mine, says the actress.
So far, I have been playing homely characters in Telugu. For the first time, I wont be seen in traditional wear and I am looking forward to it, she says.
But you wont see me in an ultra-modern avatar. I play a modern girl from Mumbai with shades of grey. Its a vibrant character. says Maddhurima who is also part of director Priyadarshans next,
Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal.Black Coffee revolves around the life of two couples, and Maddhurima will play Nishant Sagars wife. Its about a young couple who visit Kerala on their honeymoon. Its not just a family story, because there is a lot of suspense attached to it, she says.
Madhhurima made her tinsel town debut in Telugu, through
Aa Okkadu, where she played a criminal psychologist. In all my Telugu movies, I was wearing either sari or salwar. But B
lack Coffee will be different, she shares. She also plays a prominent role in actor Venkateshs next,
Shadow. Quiz her why she was never seen in a glamorous avatar in Telugu, since the industry is well-known for the glamour quotient, she replies, I guess after my debut, people couldnt imagine me in a glamorous role. The image just stayed on.
On her Mollywood innings, she says, Its an honour to be a part of Malayalam films. The industry is rich in content. The number of films from here that get remade in other languages is proof of that too. Also, actors on the Malayalam screen always get noticed by directors in other industries. The actress, who is also a law graduate, informs us, Movies were my passion, but I never thought it will turn out to be my career.
