Malayalam filmmaker Manu James passed away on Friday (Feb 25) evening. He was 31. His debut film 'Nancy Rani' was about to release.
Manu James was reportedly undergoing treatment for hepatitis, and breathed his last on Friday, in a private hospital in Kochi. Son of James Jose and Sisily James, Manu debuted in the entertainment industry as a child actor.
He worked as a child actor in the 2004 film ‘I am Curious’ directed by Sabu James. Manu James has also worked as an assistant director in Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi film industries.
Manu James’ debut directorial venture ‘Nancy Rani’ starring Ahaana Krishna and Arjun Ashokan is yet to release. The makers reportedly wrapped up the shoot, and the post-production works were progressing. The film also has Sunny Wayne, Aju Varghese, Lal, Druvan, Basil Joseph, and Vishak Nair in some pivotal roles.
Manu James is survived by his wife Naina, and siblings Minna and Philip.
The funeral will be held on Sunday (Feb 26) at Major Archiepiscopal Marth Mariam Archdeacon Church, Kuravilangad, at 3 pm.
The Malayalam film fraternity including the FEFKA has mourned the untimely demise of the debutant filmmaker.
