Rumours have been rife about Mammootty teaming up with Ilayathalapathy Vijay for Thani Oruvan director Mohan Raja’s project. While it’s true that Mammootty has a Tamil film lined up for next year, there has been no official announcement on who would helm it. We hear National Award-winning director Ram of
Thanga Meenkal fame is also in advanced stages of negotiations for the megastar's dates.
We decided to get a confirmation from Mohan Raja about the casting news. “I can’t talk about it right now. All I am willing to say is I have a movie with Sivakarthikeyan next and will be focusing on that,” says the filmmaker, choosing to remain non-committal about the news.
A source close to the filmmaker tells us that Mohan Raja will be busy for the most part of next year with the Sivakarthikeyan movie. “The Vijay film is right now scheduled to go on floors only by 2017 so it’s too early to be talking about any casting news,” says the source.
In Tamil, Mammootty had previously acted in several memorable films including
Thalapathi and
Kandukondain Kandukondain. His last release in Kollywood was Vandae Maatharam along with Arjun.
