Mohanlal-Madhupal’s next is a comedy film

Superstar Mohanlal, who has done several successful comedy entertainers in the past, will team up with actor and director Madhupal for one such film soon. It comes as a surprise, since Madhupal is known for serious films with socially relevant themes.
However, if sources are to be believed, the director’s next project will be entirely different from his earlier ventures, and Mohanlal will be seen in a new avatar. It is the first time that Madhupal is teaming up with Mohanlal.
A source close to the director tells us, “Madhupal had a discussion with Mohanlal regarding the subject. It has been a while since Mohanlal did a full length comedy, and he is excited about the project. However, the movie is still in the discussion stage and nothing is finalised yet. The movie is slated for release next year,” says the source.
The story and script will be written by Tamil and Malayalam writer Jeyamohan, who had scripted the director’s last outing, Ozhimuri, as well.Madhupal’s earlier directorial ventures like Thalappavu and Ozhimuri had won critical acclaim. Thalappavu, his maiden venture, portrayed the Naxalite insurgency in Kerala. His second film, Ozhimuri, dealt with the matrilineal system that prevailed in the Nair community in the erstwhile southern Travancore.
