Mohanlal makes a surprise visit !
Mohanlal has always been open about expressing his love for the country and respect and admiration for the armed forces protecting it.
Recently, the actor lived up to his position as the honourary Lieutenant Colonel of the Territorial Army, when he decided to pay a surprise visit to the 122 TA Infantry Battalion stationed at Jammu and Kashmir. Owing to security reasons, the exact location of the battalion was not released during the visit, since they were stationed near the India-Pakistan border.
Now back in town, the actor has released pictures of his visit on his social networking page, where he describes the soldiers as ‘the real heroes’.

“Mohanlal wanted to show his support and encouragement to the soldiers. He spent three days with the battalion at Rajouri, Jammu, and visited various troupes there. It has been one year since the soldiers have been stationed there. They are away from their families and struggling with adverse conditions. Mohanlal said that the least he can do is visit them,” says a source close to the actor.
There are Malayalis as well as others in the battalion, but for security reasons, the names of the soldiers were not mentioned. Some of the areas the superstar visited were apparently tension ridden spots, but luckily no untoward incidents happened and the soldiers, especially those from Kerala, were delighted to see their favourite actor, added the source.
Meanwhile, the actor also remembered martyrs on the occasion of the Armed Forces Flag Day on his page on Friday. “Today is Armed Forces Flag Day… Honour the brave martyrs for their supreme sacrifice, as well as to salute the valiant soldiers, sailors and airmen, both serving and veterans. On Flag Day funds will be collected for the welfare and the rehabilitation of widows and the injured. This day is observed since 1949. We should contribute to Indian Army and we should assure them that we are there to support them,” he wrote.
