As per OTT Play’s reports, the makers of ‘Barroz’ are planning to release the fantasy film on December 19 which is just a week before the Christmas celebrations. If everything goes as planned, then Mohanlal’s directorial debut's release will coincide with his blockbuster film ‘Drishyam’ which was also released on the same day, December 19, 2013.

Though the filmmakers of Barroz are yet to confirm an official release date, reports reveal that theatre chains have already been alerted, A formal announcement along with a special video glimpse, is expected in the coming weeks.

However, Barroz has faced some trouble as well. it recently landed in a legal issue when a Keralite based in Germany, George Thundiparambil issued a legal notice against actor Mohanlal, screenwriter Jijo Punnoose, producer Antony Perumbavoor, and director TK Rajeev Kumar on charges of plagiarism and copyright infringement. George alleged that ‘Barroz’s storyline has similarities to the novel ‘Maya’ which was written by him.

Meanwhile, a preview screening of ‘Barroz’ was held recently in Mumbai. The screening was only held for the team of ‘Barroz’ including Mohanlal, Santhosh Sivan, Antony Perumbavoor, director TK Rajeev Kumar and many others.

On the other hand, Mohanlal’s previous outing was with Lijo Jose Oellissery’s directorial ‘Malaikottai Vaaliban’ which received mediocre reviews from the audiences. Mohanlal has the most awaited ‘L2: Empuraan’ in the pipeline.
