Mohanlal’s ‘Barroz’ goes on floors with a star-studded puja ceremony

Mohanlal is about to make a giant leap forward with ‘Barroz – Guardian of D'Gama's Treasure’, as the film marks his debut as a director. ‘Barroz’ has gone on floors today with a puja ceremony held at Navodaya Studios, Kochi, the same company that made Mohanlal into a star through ‘Manjil Virinja Pookkal’. The puja function was graced by many eminent personalities including Ashok Kumar, who launched Mohanlal through ‘Thiranottam’ to Priyadarshan, whose collaboration with Mohanlal has resulted in many blockbusters including the latest National Film Award-winning best film ‘Marakkar - Arabikkadalinte Simham’.
Prominent figures including Fazil, Sibi Malayil, Priyadarshan, Ashok Kumar, TK Rajeev Kumar, Major Ravi, Suresh Kumar, Sathyan Anthikad, Santhosh Sivan, Mammootty, Dileep, Antony Perumbavoor, Suchithra Mohanlal, Jijo Punnoose, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and many others attended the grand launch of the film.

‘Barroz – Guardian of D'Gama's Treasure’ is a huge milestone in Mohanlal's career as the actor is trying his hands at filmmaking for the first time, in his 43 years long journey in cinema.
Helmed by Mohanlal the 3D fantasy film is produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner Aashirvad Cinemas. ‘Barroz – Guardian of D'Gama's Treasure’ is based on a story by Jijo Punnoose, the mastermind behind ‘My Dear Kuttichathan’, India’s first 3D film and ‘Padayottam’, the first 70mm film in South.
The technical team consists of cinematographer Santosh Sivan, editor Sreekar Prasad, child prodigy musician Lydian Nadhaswaram, art director Santhosh Raman among others. Actors Rafael Amargo and Paz Vega will play the characters of Vasco Da Gama and his wife respectively in the film and Prithviraj Sukumaran has lately confirmed that he too is a part of the cast.
