The last we saw of Nayanthara in Malayalam was in Siddique’s 2010 film Bodyguard, the remakes of which went on to become blockbuster hits in Bollywood and Tamil. After a gap of four years, the actress is now back, with the same director, to star opposite Mammootty in
Bhaskar the Rascal. Siddique himself confirmed the news to us. “Nayanthara will play Mammootty’s love interest.
She plays a strong, sophisticated and independent character — a self made entrepreneur, who is into chocolate making. The shoot for the film will start in December,” he said.
Bhaskar the Rascal is an action thriller and will have all the elements of comedy and romance, like in all Siddique films, the director had said earlier. It is after a long gap that Siddique and Mammootty are teaming up. Their last film together was
Chronic Bachelor.
Nayanthara debuted through Sathyan Anthikad’s
Manasinakkare, but soon became the most wanted actress in Tamil and Telugu. She has taken up only very few projects in Malayalam in the last 10 years — T
wenty: 20 being the only other commercial movie she starred in.
Meanwhile, the film will also see a group of teenagers in the cast, as the makers of
Bhaskar the Rascal have given out a casting call for boys and girls aged 10 and 15 to act alongside Mammootty.
