Nayanthara stepped into the new phase of her life with Sathyan Anthikad’s blessings

Superstar Nayanthara entered a new phase of her life with the blessings of her debut director and guru Sathyan Anthikad. Nayanthara tied the knot with her longtime boyfriend Vignesh Shivan on Thursday (June 9). The wedding ceremony was held at a resort in Mahabalipuram, Chennai, and the who’s who of Indian cinema, including Shah Rukh Khan, Rajinikanth, Ajith, and Dileep attended the ceremony, to bless the newly married couple.

Veteran Malayalam filmmaker Sathyan Anthikad, the one who introduced Nayanthara into the world of cinema, too was invited for the special day in her life. As per the reports, Sathyan Anthikad met Nayanthara, the day before her wedding, at her house, and gave his blessings for her married life. The filmmaker was reportedly present on the wedding day as well.


Nayanthara has immense respect for veteran filmmaker Sathyan Anthikad, as he was the one, who gave her the vote of confidence, when she was doubtful of whether or not to make a career in cinema. In the early 2000s, filmmaker Sathyan Anthikad was working on the script of ‘Manassinakkare’. The filmmaker was clear that legendary actress Sheela was playing the central character, and Jayaram too was roped in to play one of the leading roles. However, he wasn’t sure who he would cast as the leading lady opposite Jayaram. Sathyan Anthikad, who loves to give opportunities to fresh talents, happened to see a cover picture of a Malayalam magazine. Nayanthara was the cover girl for the magazine! Sathyan Anthikad was impressed by the ‘confidence’ she had, and soon dialed the editor of the magazine to enquire about the girl. Later, he reached out to Nayanthara, she was interested in acting, and so were her parents. Once Sathyan Anthikad finalized that she was the heroine, Nayanthara, unfortunately, said that she couldn’t take the offer. Puzzled Sathyan Anthikad asked the reason, and she divulged that though she and her parents were interested in the opportunity, her relatives weren’t. Sathyan Anthikad asked her to meet him, and the rest is history!
