After essaying noticeable supporting roles alongside actors such as Mohanlal, Prithviraj and Kunchacko Boban among others, dancer-actor
Neeraj Madhav is now gearing up for his first lead role, in a movie titled Paippinchuvattile Pranayam. Scripted and directed by debutant Domin D'Silva, the film will be a complete joy ride, says Neeraj.
Quiz him about his character in the movie and he says, 'I play the role of Govindankutty, who is popularly known as Govutty.
I see a lot of me in the character. He is an ordinary person, who happens to do something extraordinary.'
The film has lots of fun elements besides dance and music but there is more to it than just rib-tickling incidents, Neeraj adds. 'There is an underlying socially relevant message in the story.'
Domin adds more details about the kind of person Govutty is. 'He is a daily wage labourer who also takes up painting work. He goes to tourist spots on weekends and is a part-time dancer. He also has a romantic side to him. Govutty will be seen sporting a mundu, beard and a moustache in the film,' he adds. However, Neeraj doesn't want to reveal more about the title Paippinchuvattile Pranayam and says one must wait and watch.
Neeraj says that he wanted to do something different or unusual in his first lead role. He explains, 'Though I have been getting offers for title roles, I was waiting for the right project.'
Alongside the actor, four children aged between 10 and 15 will be seen playing prominent roles in the movie. The rest of the cast is yet to be finalised.
