Oru Vadakkan Pennu: A film with a socially relevant subject that shook the State

Newbie director Irshad Hamid from Kannur is all set to step into Malayalam film industry through his project Oru Vadakkan Pennu, which hits theatres today. It is a dream-come-true for the man who wished to make movies from a very young age.He wanted to do a socially relevant film as his first project and so, the subject of the movie is something that shook Kerala a few years ago. The filmmaking process was quite a challenge for Irshad, who is the member of a renowned family in Kannur. The man, who has also won the Best Actor title at Kannur University Youth Festival, is gearing up to get busy both as a director and actor.The fact that in his very first film, Irshad could line up actors like Vijay Babu, Anjali Nair, Sreejith Ravi and Sona Nair shows his calibre. The heroine of Oru Vadakkan Pennu is Gaadha, who was one of the leading ladies of Mohanlal's Big Brother.Irshad's next project is Oru Thaadikadha, which will start in March. The announcement of the film, which lines up a bunch of stars, is to be held on Valentine’s Day, Feb 14.
