Joju George’s directorial debut film ‘Pani’ is raking in good numbers at the box office even though there are some mixed reports for the action flick.
According to the Sacnilk website, ‘Pani’ has collected Rs 10.89 crores from India in 8 days and on day 8, the movie minted Rs 11 lakhs from KBO as per the early estimates by the website.
Compared to day 7’s collections which stood at Rs 1.43 crores, the day 8 collections indicate a huge drop.
‘Pani’ is directed by actor Joju George and features the actors Abhinaya, and Sagar Surya in pivotal lead roles.
ETimes rated the film 3 out of 5 with an audience rating of the same. Our review read, “The film has a mishmash of cliches from old Joshiy movies, like a hero who walks the fine line between good and bad (machismo), an IPS officer niece who back talks a taunting senior cop, and a traditional, but smart matriarch who appears as the pillar of the family."
Our review added that even though the script is not strong, Joju has managed to keep the audiences invested due to its emotional connection. Etime review further says, “While the writing isn’t strong, Joju has managed to create an emotional core and cat-and-mouse action that keeps audiences engaged and invested, and the characters are fairly well chalked out, with the actors - Alexander Prashant, Sujith Shankar and others sharing good chemistry. But there are gaps, such as the family involvement in the first murder, that are not filled. The ethos of Thrissur has been captured well.”
In conclusion, even with some flaws, it can be said that Joju George’s revenge thriller film ‘Pani’ is surely a winner this year.
