Joju George’s action flick ‘Pani’ is gearing up for the OTT release after a successful theatrical run.
Those who have missed the film in the theatres can stream the film on the Sony Liv OTT platform from January 16 onwards.
Joju George has a fanboy moment with Dhanush
Directed by Joju George, ‘Pani’ features him as the lead character named Giri who is a local gangster in Thrissur. The conflict starts when two young men named Don and Siju get involved in a murder that happened in the city.
‘Pani’ received much appreciation for its well-executed action sequences and stunning performance. Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap hailed the film by Tweeting, “Malayalam Cinema continues to shock and surprise and blow your mind. Saw this powerful thriller/drama film from @jojugeorgeactorofficial . A super confident directorial debut that goes the distance . It rises to the level of some of the best Korean new wave films. Absolutely unmissable.” Joju George shared his gratitude for the director by commenting, “Thank you so much sir You have been always my inspiration in cinema , your kind words humbled me , thanks a ton.”
Meanwhile, the Tamil director Karthik Subbaraj also shared his praise for Joju George’s directorial. The ‘Petta’ director Tweeted, “I saw this film and it's Superb. An edge of the seat action thriller with Super intense performances.... It's going to be a Blast. in theatres ... Congratulations Joju Cheta @C_I_N_E_M_A_A And team. Don't miss this Adipoli film.”
On the other hand, the film was also caught up in a controversy where Joju George allegedly threatened a reviewer who questioned the film’s alleged objectification of women and also for it’s portrays of rape.
