Producer Salil Sankaran, through Senn Productions and For the People Entertainment, presents the new film Aniyankunjum Thannalayathu, directed by National Award winning director Rajeevnath.
Actor Major Kishore plays the title character named Aniyankunju in the film and
Geetha, Maathu, Abhirami and Sindhu Nair play his sisters. The title character is a lazy village lad, who leads a semi-luxurious life in a small town in central Kerala.
His sisters work as nurses in the USA. Aniyan lives with his uncle, a well-known traditional physiotherapist aka marmani healer, who trains the youngster on the basics of the therapy despite Aniyan’s disinterest. The film goes on to show how Aniyan ends up living in the US with his sisters and how the marmani technique changes his destiny.
Renji Panicker gives a great performance as the character named Pappichayan, a marmani expert, in the film. Dubbing artist cum actress Bhagyalakshmi plays his wife, and interestingly, actor Indrans plays a villainous character, probably for the first time in his career. The film has three songs, penned by the late Kavalam Narayana Panicker, and composed by M Jayachandran and Ronnie Raphael. M Jayachandran, Mamta Mohandas and Vishnuraj have sung the songs. The audio launch of the film was recently inaugurated by Padmashree Mohanlal.
The Rajeevnath film is a comeback project for both Maathu and Abhirami, who have been away from the limelight for quite a few years. Aniyankunjum Thannalayathu has Alagappan as the cinematographer and Shibu Gangadharan as the associate director. The movie was shot in Washington DC and Thiruvananthapuram.
