‘Political correctness’ has been a term that has been used by film critics and movie buffs in recent times, and the overuse of such elements in movies definitely has negative impacts rather than positive ones, especially in comedy entertainers. Speaking to the media outlet, Salim Kumar said that political correctness has affected the comedy in films as it has to be followed in each and every dialogue in such films, and that will definitely create some restrictions.
Salim Kumar reportedly said that in order to deliver humour, the writer or actor should have complete freedom, and in these times where there is an overstress on political correctness, it has ruined audiences' sense of humour.
Salim Kumar also told the media that one can’t completely avoid political correctness as it will lead to body shaming. Referring to the actor Mammootty stepping into controversy for body-shaming comments he made during a press meet, Salim Kumar reportedly said that even such a legendary actor had to apologise for calling a person bald.
In a show of support for Mammootty, Salim Kumar also expressed his views to the media, highlighting how societal perceptions have evolved over time. He emphasised that in earlier eras, baldness was considered a symbol of a perfect man, and he questioned the notion of it being classified as body shaming in today's context.
