Sreenivas achieved excellence in his early childhood !
Mandolin maestro U Srinivas passed away at the age of 45 at a Chennai hospital on Friday. He was reportedly suffering from a liver ailment and succumbed to complications. A child prodigy, Srinivas was the first to use mandolin in Indian Carnatic music. He was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2010 and received the Padma Shri in 1998. The musician was much loved by Malayalis as well and has performed in Thiruvananthapuram along with his brother U Rajesh.

In the life of artistes, excellence can be achieved when one is 50 or even 80. But Srinivas achieved excellence in his early childhood. To integrate the instrument’s charm into the framework of Indian music and take it to its peak is no easy feat to establish."
