Actor Fahadh Faasil is all set to don a deglamorous role in a forest tale tilted Vambathi. While one of the leading ladies, Nyla Usha, has been confirmed for the project, the crew is yet to cast Fahadh’s heroine. Debutant Remya Raj is the director and screenplay writer of Vambathi, which also has Bollywood actor Prasanth Narayanan in a prominent role. “Fahadh plays a timid, mysterious guy named Maadan and Nyla acts as a doctor, who helps him at various junctures of his life.
The movie is a love story inspired by a real life incident, and Fahadh can be seen playing one of the most challenging roles in his career so far,” says Remya.
Interestingly, the title character,
Vambathi, is a tree! “We would be capturing the different, seasonal emotions of
Vambathi. For instance, she would blossom as the love story kicks off and would shed her leaves at a time of despair,” Remya adds. The film is to be shot mostly in Kerala, though the dry seasons will be captured against the backdrop of Tamil Nadu.
The movie’s songs, to be composed by
Bijibal, will be sung by the actors themselves. “We felt this is the best thing to do to retain the original feel. What we want to put together is an unprecedented style of music that is in sync with nature,” says Remya. The movie will start rolling in October.
