'Thudakkam' release: Vismaya Mohanlal's debut film to lock horns with Prithviraj Sukumaran's 'Khalifa'

The wait is finally over. Vismaya Mohanlal’s acting debut 'Thudakkam' is officially locked for an Onam 2026 theatrical release. The film is directed by Jude Anthany Joseph. 'Thudakkam' will lock horns with Prithviraj Sukumaran's actioner 'Khalifa' which is also reportedly hitting the big screen on Onam 2026.

Mohanlal shares poster and starts the buzz

Mohanlal took to Twitter and shared a new poster from the film. He wrote just two words, “Vismaya Thudakkam.” The poster shows Vismaya sitting inside a moving bus. She is resting her head on the window. Raindrops are seen on the glass. She looks quiet and deep in thought.Soon, the post was filled with comments. One wrote, “2026 Onam release #Khalifa is also aiming Onam, then 2 films with #Mohanlal in a cameo role going to Clash release.” Another said, “If any Pranav movie also comes then it's a family ONAM clash.”

One more comment read, “Excited for this new beginning! Vismaya's debut looks promising under Jude Anthany Joseph's direction – can't wait to see the magic!” Another simply said, “Aww ! Great & Congrats.”

'Thudakkam' is directed by Jude Anthany Joseph. He is known for films like 'Ohm Shanthi Oshaana' and '2018'. He is also a National Award-winning filmmaker.
Because of his name the expectations are already high.

Mohanlal’s emotional words at the pooja

Earlier during the pooja ceremony of 'Thudakkam' Mohanlal spoke with a lot of emotion. He said, “Everything that has happened in my life, I consider it a vismayam (wonder). I never once thought that my children would enter cinema. I never had a dream to act in films either. It just happened, as if destined by time.”He also said that the audience made him the actor he is today. Looking back at his own start he said, “Years ago, when I came into cinema, there were no such ceremonies. You just came, acted, and that was it.” He also spoke proudly about his children. “Appu was selected as best actor in school, and Maya too has acted in several plays and won awards,” he added.
